FLOOD RELIEF OPERATION – ESTABLISHMENT OF HELPLINE
FOR OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has launched massive relief operations and is establishing Relief Camps in flood affected areas of Pakistan.  Food/Non-Food items, medicines and items of basic necessity will be distributed amongst the displaced families.  Apart from Relief Camps, a helpline has also been established at OPF Head Office and at all Regional Offices from where Overseas Pakistanis can obtain relevant details and information about their families and situation of floods in Pakistan. GRANT OF RIGHT OF VOTE TO OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

Dear Compatriot

The Government of Pakistan is considering granting the right of vote as well as representation in National and Provincial Assemblies to Overseas Pakistanis. In this regard all those Pakistani who wish to participate in the electoral process, may kindly fill the attached form and email or mail it back to the Consulate. The response would enable the government in assessing the extent of interest among the Pakistani Diaspora in the electoral process and taking a final decision in this regard. The response within ten days would be highly appreciated.

For each of the Consular Services (VISA, Passport, Attestation of documents etc) separate Money Order or Cashier Check should be attached with the application.
For example you are applying for the VISA and Marriage Certificate than two No of Money Order/ Cashier Checks are required. One should be attached VISA Application and Second is attached with Marriage Certificate application. You can not attach the single Money Order/Cashier Check of sum of Amounts of the both services

President's Program for the Care of Highly Qualified Overseas Pakistanis

Ministry of Labor and Manpower has launched a program entitled Pakistan’s Program for the Care of Highly qualified OverseasPakistanis (PPQP). The Program has following objectives :-

  • Establish an interactive web based data bank of highly qualified Pakistani Professional ’s based abroad.
  • Create a system in which expatriate Pakistan experts can makeeffective contribution to various institutions in Pakistan throughshort to long term technical assistance for economic development ofthe country.
  • Avail the benefit from the advice of the experts while they areabroad through correspondence and supply of pertinent technicalliterature.
  • To create an online and service oriented employment delivery networkproviding a user-friendly interface between people seeking employmentand potential employers.

  1. The expenses on short duration visit (upto 36 weeks) of theexpatriate professionals i.e. economy class return air ticket andsubsistence allowance @ Rs. 50,000/- per week includingboarding/lodging from date of joining will be arranged under the saidprogram by National talent Pool of that Ministry. An interactivewebsite www.ppqp.gov.pk has been developed for the purpose.

    Admission of Foreign Students /Pakistan Origin Under Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme PTAP Session 2009-10

    The Government of Pakistan, Economic Division has invited application for admission of Foreign students / Pakistan Origin under Technical Assistance Programme in following 32 seats in various Colleges/ Universities for the session 2009-10

    Notice for Admission in Colleges/ Universities of Pakistan

    The Self Finance Scheme of foreign students admission in professional institutions of Pakistan was transferred in June, 2006 to the HEC from the Economic Affairs Division. The scheme with limited number of seats in the disciplines of Medicine (MBBS), Dentistry (BDS), Pharmacy (Pharm-D) and B.Sc. Engineering is meant to facilitate both foreign as well as Pakistan origin dual nationality holder students, for their admission in universities/institutions of Pakistan. A student with his/her HSSC or equivalent qualification (either from Pakistan or abroad) is eligible to apply.

    For admission under SFS, the students who have acquired their HSSC or equivalent qualifications (either from Pakistan or abroad) are eligible to apply. The application Form eligibility criteria, terms & conditions , guidelines and rate of tution fee etc, can be downloaded from HEC website www.hecc.gov.pk/sfs

    Interested candidates are requested to furnish the prescribed application form along with attested copies of their educational documents (four copies) to Higher Education Commission (HEC) latest by August 15,2009 or to Counsellor (Community Welfare ) , Consulate General of Pakistan, 12 East 65 Street, New York, 10065 by August 5, 2009.

    The Government of Pakistan has established a fund namely Prime Minister's Special Fund for Victims of Terrorism. All proceeds on account of the fund will be received at all branches of State Bank of Pakistan, Treasuries, branches of National Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Missions.
